The Dick Van Dyke Show, winner of fifteen Emmy® Awards, was the brainchild of Carl Reiner. Dick Van Dyke starred as Rob Petrie, lead writer for the fictional Alan Brady Show. Mary Tyler Moore, who had no television acting experience outside of commercials, was given the role of Laura, Rob's wife.
